Lamb of God's Wrath: All Killer, No Filler

"My wife's favorites are at the end of the record," Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton told Noisecreep. "Most bands stack 'em heavy at the front." But 'Wrath' is one of those albums that gets better as you dig deeper. The best cuts, like 'Broken Hands' and 'Set to Fail,' reside in the middle of the maelstrom.

"'Broken Hands' is a little different for us," the guitarist offered. "The third version of that song made the record. We rewrote that song at the end. This album has a lot of rewrites, so the original versions sound nothing like what's on record. That's new for us. We're five dudes with four-minute songs. It's hard to change any of our minds, since we all have strong personalities, so getting the five of us on same page is hard. 'Broken Hands' went through different lives and the groove and slow verse were originally in the middle of the song!"

Even though the LOG boys have amassed an impressive, pat-on-the-back degree of success in the metal sphere, they're still good ole' boys; Southern gentleman done good. Morton still resides in Virginia. "There's a side of my life in Richmond that has nothing to do with Lamb of God or my career. I hang out with my buddies, drink beer, go drag racing. They are aware of what I do and get a kick out of it, and I'm fortunate for my career. But when I come home, put my bags down and shut the door, I am able to escape. For me, that's a key element to what little sanity I have left. I get to go to Tokyo and I love NYC to death. I've seen Berlin and other great places because of my job, but I'm still from Virginia."

Morton may have Southern pride, but he is "less about Rebel Flag patches on my jean jacket and singing Ronnie Van Zant at the top of my lungs!" American by birth, Southern by the grace o' God.
