No Rock Star 'Tudes With the Acacia Strain Dudes
The Acacia Strain were the recipients of the MySpace Reader's Choice Award at the inaugural Revolver Golden Gods Awards. The band delivered an expletive-laden acceptance speech at the event last month but was beyond psyched for the recognition. Vocalist Vincent Bennett told Noisecreep, "The Acacia Strain fans come in all shapes and sizes, but I can't say I would look down upon any of them, like many bands of our genre would. They're the reason we are where we are and every member appreciates everything they've done for us. We will keep playing as long as they keep coming to see us! The Reader's Choice thing kind of blew us away. We didn't think people cared that much." Bennett and TAS have also extended an invite to fans to come hang at shows, saying, "We're just dudes. No rock star attitudes here!"The Golden Gods ceremony itself was a thrill for the Massachusetts band. "It was a surreal experience," Bennett recalled. "I was in the same room as Scott Ian, Kerry King, Maynard James Keenan and so many more 'metal elite.' It was f*cking crazy. And we were there on only two hours of sleep."
"We have been busy as hell," Bennett also said. "We're taking a break because we did two months straight with Bleeding Through," which was the longest tour the Acacia Strain have ever done. Bennett also said, "The future is wide open. We have some plans, but nothing official. The possibility of writing a new album has come up so keep listening for that news." While Bennett teased with information, the band will remain in the metal scene's global face for the foreseeable future (read: summer), including a European trek with Aborted and Salt the Wound in June, of which Bennett says, "I am just glad to not be headlining in Europe!" The band will then head to Japan for the first time in late August. Bennett said, "We're all excited because we never thought we would make it all the way there. We are playing a bunch of shows as well as headlining Bloodaxe fest!" The Acacia Strain will cap off all that road rage by releasing a DVD, which could be out as soon as early fall.
