Bring Me the Horizon Has Halitosis
It's 3:18 / Mouth tastes like the corpse of every pregnant teen
A number of great songs feature specific times of the day. Judas Priest's 'Living After Midnight' and Dream Theater's '6:00,' for starters in the metal realm. There's also Matchbox-20's '3AM,' but I'm guessing most of Noisecreep's readerships' eyes just glazed over that band's name. Here we have the introductory line from Bring Me The Horizon's 'For Stevie Wonder's Eyes Only,' from the re-issue of two previous releases, 'This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was Made For,' and 'Count Your Blessings.' The lyrics go on to explain how the narrator is the personification of Death and that he'll make some poor girl's life a living hell: the standard metal fare.
But I kept coming back to this first line as it doesn't necessarily fit the rest of the song. Death has had a host of better things to feast on: dinosaurs, evil dictators, public education. Pregnant teens are a dime a dozen, so why make note of them? I can only trust that the ol' Reaper - the most metal of all literary symbols - knows what he likes and watches what he eats.
