Every Time I Die Haven't Mellowed with Age; They're Just More Selective

"You go on tour and have experiences to write about, but you are in the thick of it when you are off tour, too," Every Time I Die singer Keith Buckley told Noisecreep about his band's development. "I would still act like I was on tour until I went on tour again. Now I take time to reflect and have slowed the down drinking and partying, so I have a good view on it. That's the crux of the lyrics."
When he stopped to chat, Buckley was in the studio while Josh Newton was finishing up bass tracks. "I know, it requires all of us to be here, right? Our drummer isn't here, so he lucked out. I had to finish up here and there, add some gang vocals, whispers and rap parts. Of course I am kidding about the rap parts," he said.
The band will release 'New Junk Aesthetic' in September, and Buckley is excited, having said, "I don't want to jinx it. I love it. I had time away from it after we wrote it. When I came back to it, I had fresh ears. Kids who follow us will be stoked. This is a good starting point for people who aren't fans, too. It's very much like 'Hot Damn!' It's got a lot of mosh parts." Given that 'Hot Damn!' is widely regarded as ETID's best effort, scores of the Buffalo quintet's fans are undoubtedly preparing to get their mosh on!
ETID have been known for their crazy stage antics over the years, such as wearing wigs, donning daisy duke shorts and other random acts of mayhem. "I would like to do that stuff again," Buckley said. "But it's overdone now, and I don't want to go to the well too many times. Maybe if we get a little more more money in the budget, we can have a proper stage show. But until then, it has been us getting drunk and pretending it's a party -- only without confetti and balloons. If every day was New Year's Eve, you'd get bored with it."
