Dethklok and Mastodon Add More Tour Dates to 'Brutal Legend'-Sponsored Tour
For their much buzzed-about co-headlining tour this fall, Dethklok and Mastodon have added additional shows in New York and Los Angeles, plus new dates in Norfolk, Va., Charlotte, N.C. and San Jose, Calif., bringing the total number of shows for their epic seven-week trek to 39.The high anticipation and overall excitement continues to build as Dethklok and Mastodon, along with High on Fire and Converge, set out to kick off their monolithic tour on Oct. 2 in Portland, Ore. Adding to the already amazing package, Dethklok and Mastodon have also announced that the tour will be sponsored by EA Games' 'Brutal Legend' -- an upcoming action-adventure game that follows metal roadie Eddie Riggs on his quest to save the world.
When asked about the tour, Metalocalypse's creator/mastermind Brendon Small said, "Seeing this lineup makes me jealous for the audience. Both myself and my band-that-doesn't-exist are incredibly excited and honored to be a part of it. Furthermore, I see this tour jump-starting the economy and completely reversing the recession. I've said this a thousand times: There is no recession for metal."
'Dethklok: The Dethalbum II' will be released on Sept. 29 through William Street Records, and Converge's highly anticipated seventh album, 'Axe to Fall,' will be out on Epitaph Oct. 20.
High on Fire are currently in the studio recording their follow-up to 2007's 'Death Is This Communion,' while Mastodon, soaring high on the success of their March 2009 release 'Crack the Skye,' are touring the U.K. in support of Metallica.
The on-sale date for the newly added shows is Sept. 11. The updated tour schedule for what is being dubbed the tour of the year is as follows, and more information about tickets can be found at www.adultswimpresents.com.
