Daath Guitarists Hatch Instrumental Side Project
"They sent us a track with melodies, with three spots left open for solos," Levi told Noisecreep. "We thought, 'This kind of blows!' We took the whole thing, worked it over, asked for it to be sent to us without melodies and they were weird about it.
"Then, we rewrote almost everything, in our style, and the label liked it so much that they asked us make an instrumental guitar record. Our hero Sean Reinert of Cynic plays drums on it. It's going to be sick and make the guitar playing on Daath look like kindergarten." The project remains nameless, but the pair continues to write a lot of music for it.
Levi isn't sure when the project with come out, due to his and Werstler's firm commitment to Daath. Levi said, "We're in the middle of an album cycle while doing this, which makes it hard to say when we'll be done, but we aim to finish it this year."
While Bumblefoot has nothing to do with the project at press time, Levi plans to ask him to play a solo on it. "I think he will say yes, if he can, if Guns N' Roses' schedule isn't too heavy," Levi admitted. Hey Axl, give Bumblefoot some time off to work with Daath.
Daath's 'The Concealers' is in stores now.
