Eyes Set to Kill Offer Local Bands a Big Break on Headline Tour
"Plus there is less pressure touring as a direct support band, because if a show is small, we don't have take all the blame! We are super stoked for our headliner, sponsored by Revolver Magazine this fall. There will be a ton of great bands coming your way."
Rodriguez also said the band gets 'tour sick,' which is the opposite of 'homesick' -- that is, they miss being on tour when they are off! "We get over being 'tour sick' by doing things we usually do on tour," she said. "You know, like not showering for a week, not sleeping and not changing our clothes every day. Just kidding! We try to stay busy by practicing, writing and hanging out with our friends. But being home for a couple weeks can feel like an eternity. So we try to entertain ourselves as best as possible. One thing we do miss about being home is the great 'home cooking' and of course sleeping in our own beds."
For this headline run, Break Silence, the band's label, is giving local bands that open the date in their market a chance to win a recording contract, a feature in Revolver and a boatload of gear. Each band will be judged according to performance, image, local draw and crowd reaction/participation, among other things. ESTK are thrilled to offer this opportunity to bands "It's a great opportunity for us and our fans to discover some great new bands," Rodriguez said. "We can't wait to watch the locals every single night. We travel the country and get to play with amazing bands that deserve to be signed. That's why we think this a great idea for a contest. Sometimes it's hard to get noticed as a band, but this contest will give everyone a chance to get there name out there."
So what does this seasoned veteran suggest locals participating in the contest do to get Beak Silence's attention? "Practice! Make sure your band is tight as can be. And bring lots of energy to the stage! We will be watching every band and will be making a group decision at the end of tour as to which band gets a record deal. Oh, and make sure to bring as many friends and fans as possible to the shows. It's all about the live show. Great crowd responses make great shows, and in return make great impressions."
