Morgan Dana Harrington, a 20-year-old Virginia Tech student who was last seen wearing a Pantera shirt, a black skirt and boots, and hasn't been seen since Metallica's Oct. 17 gig in Charlottesville, Va., is still missing. And now, Metallica themselves are asking anyone with information about Harrington's whereabouts to come forward to police. "We are deeply concerned about the disappearance of Morgan Dana Harrington," who is blonde and blue-eyed, Metallica writes on its Web site. "She was not carrying I.D. or a cell phone. Morgan was separated from her friends shortly before 9 PM at the venue, and police have been searching the area since Monday. We encourage anyone who has any information regarding Morgan's disappearance to please come forward. Our thoughts are with Morgan and her family for her safe return."
Meanwhile, hundreds have joined an online Facebook group, dedicated to finding Harrington.
Virginia State Police are also asking anyone who may have taken video or photos from Saturday's Metallica concert to review the images, to see if they show Harrington, an education major. According to one of the missing girl's friends, Harrington left the arena before Metallica came on stage and did not rejoin the people she came with. Her purse and cell phone were later found outside, and Harrington's car remains in the venue's parking lot.
Police are following up on dozens of tips, and are canvassing the area around the venue, in search of any clues.
"We have no evidence that a crime has been committed," said Lt. Joe Rader of the Virginia State Police during a press conference Monday. "It's unusual that we haven't heard anything from her friends or family regarding her whereabouts. That's the biggest concern currently: her whereabouts and her welfare."
Morgan's father, Dan Harrington, told reporters he expected his daughter to come home on Sunday. When she didn't show, he knew something was off. He described her as a "really great kid. She loved music and occasionally went to large concerts. She was an artist and liked to read."
On Oct. 30, Metallica will be joined by Ozzy Osbourne at Madison Square Garden as part of the 25th anniversary celebration of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

My prayers are with this girls family...my only concerned is that she was discribed in the "past tence" by her fathre in the statement. What does that mean? Am I the only one who finds this disturbing?

It is a lil crazy how he puts it in that way, but maybe he's also trying to be realistic =/ I mean I really hope this girl is ok, but he can't sit back relaxing in denial, you know?

I was just about to comment on how it's strange her father is referring to her in past tense. Usually hopeful parents will not say things this way. It always baffles me when things like this happen and the steps leading up to it. My prayers are with her and the family. I hope they find her alive and well!!

Betty Ann, I'm right there with you. I just finished reading this article and thought the same thing. If those are his words verbatim, then it is very strange and the police should look into the father.

I love how it says "Download Metallica Songs" at the end of the article. AOL never misses a chance to capitalize on tragedy. Besides, why the hell would I want to download Metallica songs anyway? After they helped the RIAA screw Napster, p2p music-file-sharing, and music fans around the world? Hell no! I hope they rot.

Yep I thought the same exact thing the second I read it. Wonder if they followed up on that lead? And why is her car still in the stadium parking lot~they article also says that they havent heard anything from her friends or family about her whereabouts... I dont get it? Her father said she was going to his house on Sunday and never showed up.

Betty Ann, I agree with you. When I read that it got my attention right away. It just jumps out and grabs you. I pray it is not the case. My prayers are for Morgan's safety and that she is located soon.

he didn't describe her in past tense, he said shes a "really great kid." thats not past tense. "She was a really great kid" would be past tense. "She is a really great kid." is present.

Well they did take his quote out of context. He could have been describing her from when she was younger but I don't know. Or maybe they asked the question, "What was your daughter like?" I don't know there's a million reasons you could think of.

I am about 95% positive i saw this girl between 8:30 and 8:45. I was waiting with a friend by the entrance to the arena (im not sure if more than one entrance was open, we were right by the parking garage) when this girl tried to go into the show. It appeared that she didn't have a ticket. When the people working the venue searched her pocket book they pulled a bottle of prescription pills and a flask. The people gave her the pills back but kept the flask. If any of her friends know if she had a flask and pills, i think it would confirm that this was her, and at least the timeline is a little better. I also remember she was wearing black gloves, or wrist wraps of some sort. I reported this to the Charlottesville police and told them this, but they didnt seem very interested.

Ms. Morgan Dana Harrington's body was found near Charlottesville V.A. on some remote farm land today at 10am this morning. The remains are going to Richmond VA for positive ID but state police say that based on the items found with the body they are certain it is her.

they just found her skeleton 10 miles from the stadium.

Sorry to say but there is only a bad ending to this story. What is wrong with people..this day and age your own family will harm you, so you have to be really careful when in a large venue with strangers...esp. a female. This is the US and we should be able to go where we please but use common sense. Why put yourself in danger.

When going out somewhere like this with "your friends", you don't expect bad things to happen. Some people don't always look at the negative in life, but look at the good. I'm sure that Harrington didn't expect anything would happen to her when going to a concert. The only thing that matters is that something bad did happen and we all need to pray for her safe return. Her friends should be somewhat ashamed for not being more helpful in this situation.

I cannot believe you end a news item which can possibly end up being a very tragic story with an advertisment on where the band is playing next. How cold!!!!

I KNOW! That's the first thing said when i saw that!

I also thought the statement for the next gig was tacky. Beautiful girl, I hope she comes home safe.

I agree with you twodmddogs, what a class act right? I was interested in reading the story and for a moment felt as if people were really caring about this girl and her whereabouts and then I read the final line talking about Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica's next gig! What the hell has that got to do with this poor missing girl?
