Ozzy to Join Metallica for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Performance

Ozzy Osbourne will join Metallica for a special Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performance on Oct. 30 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The two-day event features Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Simon and Garfunkel, U2, Stevie Wonder with B.B. King, Eric Clapton with B.B. King and much more in addition to the metal elite.

In honor of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation's 25th anniversary, the Oct. 29 and 30 shows will highlight different legendary artists that "will not only celebrate their music, but invite musical guests to join them onstage for what will be two unforgettable evenings with unique collaborations."

Though it is unclear how the pairing of Metallica and Ozzy came about, it has been reported that Metallica have been rehearsing the Black Sabbath classic 'War Pigs' for the event.

A who's who of creative consultants have been put together to film and curate the series, with Tom Hanks and his producing partner Gary Goetzman, Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone, singer-songwriter Robbie Robertson, Academy Award-winning screenwriter/ director Cameron Crowe and several others at the helm. While Joel Gallen, the producer/director behind the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies and the MTV Movie Awards (1995-2006), will direct the show and oversee the 25th anniversary celebration.

Metallica is currently on their 'World Magnetic Tour' in North America, and will resume their regularly scheduled dates following this one-off performance.
