Maynard James Keenan Wine Documentary Prepping for Sundance
"Sundance is in January, and the premiere is set for Feb. 26, and we're planning for a screening and with Maynard performing. It will be uplinked live to 500 theaters across America," Page told Noisecreep. "The documentary fits into Maynard's creative world. It shows his musical side, and it's also about Puscifer, their origins, why he is making the music. It's all wild stuff, like his reasons for branching out."
As for the filmmakers, they've always been interested in wine, but working on the doc has made them seasoned vets on the subject. Page said, "We're nearing expert level, since we hear about it all day. Maynard has an esoteric approach to winemaking. All of his ideas and worldviews go into his winemaking. This film is more information than anyone has ever gotten on him. You'll see. It's all wrapped into his creating things and thoughts and process about creating, music and wine."
Page does admit the film will shine a wee bit of light on the mystique that defines Maynard James Keenan, but assures fans that "Maynard, obviously, always will keep his things to himself. There is no doubt that he has opened up like never before. He did the film because he liked our previously films."
