Volbeat Singer Back on His Feet, Opening For Metallica

Volbeat just hit the road with Metallica for an anticipated string of West Coast dates, but not too long ago all eyes were on the band's singer, Michael Poulson. In late November, he'd come down with a bad case of the flu and collapsed on stage during a performance in Tilburg, Holland. Concerns were abound, but Poulson seems to be recovered and ready to rock.
In a recent interview, Poulson acknowledged his stage collapse, assuring us that "[he is] back and ready and doing good." Constant touring can be straining on anyone, but Poulson loves it. "When you get used to it, there is a certain freedom about it," he said. In addition to travel, benefits include a better understanding of the business and hearing new music.
Poulson also added that touring with Metallica is a dream come true. "I remember being in my room as a kid at my parents house looking at Metallica posters on the wall," he reminisces, "and now I am on the road playing with them." Volbeat have three remaining dates with Metallica, all in California, over the next week.
