Former Spylacopa Drummer Shot Dead in Brooklyn
Spylacopa also features Candiria guitarist John LaMacchia, Julie Christmas of Made Out of Babies, and Isis' Jeff Caxide. Spylacopa's self-titled EP dropped in 2008. Due to his focus on Dillinger, live shows and more extensive studio work has not been possible for Spylacopa.
"Drummer Troy Young, played on the Spylacopa EP, was shot to death in his apartment," Puciato writes. "Sad day. Talented drummer and nice person."
According to reports, New York police are investigating the homicide. Young was found in his basement apartment on Fourth Street in Carroll Gardens on Friday, with a single gunshot wound to his head. On Saturday, police revealed that Young was shot in the left shoulder and that the bullet passed through his heart. The door to the apartment was unlocked and nothing appeared to have been stolen, police said.
Young also played drums for Brooklyn band Curious Mishap. "Troy was very hard working, he went to New York to 'go where the big time is,'" his grieving father, Ed, told the New York Post. No suspects have been named yet.
