Shrinebuilder Release Double LP
Shrinebuilder -- the much-hailed supergroup consisting of Scott 'Wino' Weinrich (the Obsessed, the Hidden Hand, St. Vitus), Dale Crover (Melvins), Al Cisneros (Sleep, Om) and Scott Kelly (Neurosis) -- recently unleashed their self-titled debut album upon the world. The record, which was released on Oct. 12 via Neurot Recordings, is now available in an audiophile-approved double-vinyl LP version, mastered at 45 RPM for maximum fidelity. For such a celebrated release, the band wanted nothing less than the best artwork. So they hired artist Josh Graham, best known for his work as the visuals designer for Neurosis.
"[The band] asked for two elements," explained Graham to Noisecreep. "One was the temple that can be seen on Blue Oyster Cult's 'Tyranny and Mutation,' and the other was snakes. I designed the temple a bit differently and felt like it should represent the spark of this new band. You can see fire and forms within the temple, and the snakes are drawn to the event. What will happen next?"
'Shrinebuilder' was recorded by its all-star cast in a mere three days at Westbeach Recorders in Hollywood and engineered by Toshi Kasai (Big Business).
