Burn Halo Frontman Recalls Frustrations With Eighteen Visions

When post-hardcore rockers Eighteen Visions disbanded in 2007, singer James Hart immediately immersed himself in music, looking for a new project. By 2008, he'd formed Burn Halo. The band's single 'Dirty Little Girl' features Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Synyster Gates. 'Dirty Little Girl' became a radio hit and provided Burn Halo the chance to play for big crowds all summer long. As 2009 comes to an end, the band is looking ahead to the new year, a new single and new tours.

"We work hard on stage and we work hard off stage," Hart thoughtfully tells Noisecreep. "When you put in hard work, you know, you get out in front of people and you work your tail off, you're going to get some fans."

All that hard work is starting to pay off. Not only is Burn Halo gaining fans as Hart mentioned, but also getting a warm reaction from people who have no familiarity with the band, thanks to their collective work ethic.

"I'm not surprised with the warm reception, because you get out on stage -- whether the fans paid to see you or you're the opening act that fans didn't pay to see -- if they're working hard, people dig it and become fans of that."

While Burn Halo is very much Hart's baby and his project, he says all the other guys are full members and "on the same page," creatively.

"I think the guys know I've been in the business for a very long time. And I've been on the upside and downside, and I know all the ins and outs of touring and where to spend money," Hart explains. "What types of tours to take, what types of tours not to take. These guys totally trust me, and that's one of the things I wanted ... from the get-go was to get four other guys involved who trusted me enough to make the right decisions.

"I know being in Eighteen Visions, one of the tough things about that band, especially the latter years, was the decision-making and the clashing of ideas and the tour we should take, and why we should do this or that or how the song should go. There were so many different identities in that band, and it was getting pulled in so many different ways ... that's the one thing I didn't want to happen with this."
