Motorhead frontman's Documentary, 'Lemmy,' to Debut in March at SXSW
In May 2008, a teaser for a documentary about Motörhead frontman Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister was posted at lemmymovie.com. Since then, countless magazines, Web sites and blogs have reported about the movie based on the preview and interviews with directors and producers Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski. Then fans and critics waited eagerly and patiently for the movie. Now the wait is almost over.Olliver and Orshoski have just announced that 'Lemmy' will debut in Austin, Texas at the 2010 South by Southwest Film Festival, which runs March 12 to 16. Details on screenings and promotional events in Austin will be posted in coming weeks on the movie's official Web site.
Regarding the long-awaited documentary, Kilmister said, "Amazing! See Lemmy breathe in and breathe out!! See him move his fingers independently!! All singing and dancing!! Give generously!!!"
To create 'Lemmy,' Olliver and Orshoski spent three years following the metal legend with cameras, capturing Kilmister in his Hollywood home, at favorite hangs like The Rainbow and at hockey arenas in Scandinavia and Russia. According to Orshoski, the movie gives fans more access than ever before to his life. 'Lemmy' also features appearances and testimonials by Metallica, Foo Fighter frontman Dave Grohl, Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Billy Bob Thornton and pro wrestler Triple H.
Olliver and Orshoski are currently seeking distribution for 'Lemmy.'
