Revocation Lay It All Out About 'ReAniManiac' During New York Show

"Even the new guy is taking his shirt off!" Revocation guitarist David Davidson said with a note of surprise in his voice while on stage on Jan. 6. And that is about when the thrashy metallers began to look familiar. You see, every time I've watched Revocation, the entire band was shirtless. So when the completely clothed four-piece -- which is usually a trio but they picked up a second guitarist for the Metal as Art Tour -- stepped onto New York's Knitting Factory stage, I was a little confused.
"Any money you guys give us will go to new tires," Davidson said after explaining that the band blew out their tires on the way to the show. What a scary way to start off a full month tour, but Revocation didn't show they were bothered when they paraded through their dynamic set."
Davidson continued, "Who here has seen the movie 'Reanimator'? Who here has seen the cartoon 'Animaniacs'? This song is called 'ReAniManiac,'" he said. The song is a real crowd energizer. In fact, Spin magazine included it in a digital compilation of 'Ten Artists to Watch in 2010.'
If the Metal as Art Tour doesn't stop at a town near you, you can at least check out Revocation's new album, 'Existence Is Futile,' available on Relapse Records.
