Dangers Guitarist Gives Lay of the Land for L.A. Hardcore Scene

New York hardcore is the stuff of legend and lore, but what about Los Angeles hardcore? Does Left Coast hardcore bubble under the general heavy music scene's radar? It's certainly not as prominent of a genre as thrash and glam, but it's most definitely out there. Or so says Dangers' guitarist Justin Smith, who also splits his time in Graf Orlock and Ghostlimb.

"Luckily, the L.A. scene has been turning around as of late," Smith told Noisecreep. "There are some new DIY venues in parts of Long Beach and West L.A., and the kids in Riverside further east have kept things going through the ebb and flow. I think it is a good scene, people-wise. There are a lot of supportive people interested in doing benefits and cooperative things to have a place to play and congregate. There were a few years where things went dead venue-wise, but hopefully that period is over."

Dangers are doing their part to keep the LA scene ebbin' and flowin'. Their second album, 'Messy, Isnt It?,' is due out Feb. 9.
