Richard Christy Explains How His Walls Got Charred on the Next ''Creep Show'
There's a good reason why Richard Christy has had a primo position on 'The Howard Stern Show' since 2004. Even when he's playing it straight, the guy's a total class clown, and while he came on the ''Creep Show' to talk about metal, before tape rolled the panel had just as much fun joking with him about prank calls, radio sketches and whether Stern is serious about wanting to be the host of 'American Idol.'Fortunately, Christy's as well-versed in metal as he is in comedy, and he was stoked to talk about news, new releases and his history playing with various bands, including Acheron, Death, Iced Earth and his new supergroup Charred Walls of the Damned, which also features vocalist Tim 'Ripper' Owens (Iced Earth, Judas Priest), guitarist Jason Suecof (Capharnaum, Crotchduster) and bassist Steve DiGiorgio (Sadus, Testament).
During our discussion, Christy told stories about hanging out with the late Death frontman Chuck Schuldiner, discussed his contribution to the supposedly forthcoming Death tribute album, explained how he got the name for Charred Walls of the Damned -- and revealed some of guitarist Suecof's quirkier and most disgusting traits.
Check in later this week for the full, grisly episode.
