Sick of It All, 'Death or Jail' -- New Song

New York hardcore pioneers Sick of It All have returned with 'Death or Jail,' the first new song from their upcoming album, 'Based on a True Story,' which comes out April 20. The band wrote the track about friends who have pursued a path of self-destruction that landed them either behind bars or six feet under.

"We all know people who have made these huge mistakes, and it's a really difficult thing to explain, especially when they come from the same place and common background," drummer Armand Majidi said. "They don't just turn their backs on their friends, because it's as if they're turning their backs on themselves, shutting themselves into a reality that can offer nothing but stress, violence and wickedness. Thank goodness we had the outlet of hardcore to help us vent our frustrations, or we all might have found ourselves in a similar place. This song is dedicated to those friends that we wish could have made better choices."

'Death or Jail' is currently available exclusively on Lambgoat. In the coming weeks, Sick of It All will film a video for the song with directors Mike Pecci and Ian McFarland (Fear Factory, Meshuggah).

'Based on a True Story,' the follow-up to Sick of It All's 2006 album 'Death to Tyrants,' was recorded last year by Danish producer Tue Madsen (Kataklysm, the Haunted) at Antfarm Studios in Århus, Denmark. Tracks include 'The Divide,' 'A Month of Sundays,' 'Good Cop' and 'Lifeline.'
