Death Angel Hard at Work on 'Really, Really Heavy' Studio Album

Veteran San Francisco-area thrash metal band Death Angel have entered Audio Hammer studio in Sanford, Fla. to record their sixth yet-untitled studio album with studio owner Jason Suecof (Trivium, DevilDriver, the Black Dahlia Murder).
"We're really excited about working with Jason," guitarist Rob Cavestany told Noisecreep. "We're going to be co-producing the album, and it looks like Colin Richardson is going to mix it, which is cool as well."
"We needed a producer that was capable of unleashing the tones that match and compliment the overall vibe of the [new] songs," added vocalist Mark Osegueda. "With Jason's experience in producing some of the most brutal contemporary metal artists and albums of today, I know we made the right choice."
Death Angel started writing the new songs in their practice space in Oakland, Calif. in late 2009 and discovered they were far more interested in writing fast, pummeling songs than mid-paced thrash anthems.
"It just manifested itself to be extremely heavy and pretty technical," Cavestany said. "The main difference is that we're all feeling really aggressive, which I think is a good thing. We just let it flow when we were writing and we wound up with some songs that are really, really heavy."
The new record is tentatively due for release in September.
