Opeth Frontman Says Band Is Preparing for Next Album
Mike says he's got distended feet from a recent 15-hour plane flight from Los Angeles, the last stop on the band's brief tour and a show he dubbed just "OK." He added that "overall, it was a fantastic little trip for all of us. We had a blast. The crowds ... were amazing ... and playing the Royal Albert Hall in London is the biggest feather in my rock hat so far. Wow! Just wow! We took pictures just like Deep Purple did on the 1969 'Concerto' album. Geeks!"
Then Åkerfeldt drops a quick bombshell, explaining that's he back home, with "lotsa stuff in the pipeline. Next Opeth album being one thing."
What? Just like that? Of course, Åkerfeldt did not reveal much about the new disc, and instead, launched into a diatribe on Volvos. The album will be the band's first since 2008's 'Watershed.' Last month, Opeth released a new track called 'The Throat of Winter,' which appears on the digital EP soundtrack to the video game 'God of War III.' To mark the band's recent 20th celebrations, a special edition of 'Blackwater Park' was released on the March 29.
