Bret Michaels Suffers Brain Hemorrhage
Bret Michaels, Poison singer and reality TV star, has suffered a brain hemorrhage and is currently in critical condition, according to reports. The 47-year-old Michaels, who had an emergency appendectomy a week and a half ago, was suffering from an intense headache on Thursday night and was subsequently rushed to an unnamed hospital. Doctors discovered that he suffered from bleeding at the base of his brain. A source close to the delicate situation revealed that after performing several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram, doctors elected to keep Michaels, an '80s glam metal icon who has enjoyed a later career resurgence in the celebreality world on VH1's 'Rock of Love' and this season of NBC's 'Celebrity Apprentice,' in the ICU. The source said, "Doctors are running several tests to determine the cause. [It] will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation."
Michaels was forced to cancel a show on April 12 in San Antonio, Texas in order to undergo an emergency appendectomy. He remained under a doctor's care after the procedure. He is also diabetic, but there is no word if his hemorrhage relates to either condition.
While recovering from his appendectomy, Michaels offered updates to his fans regarding his progress, offering, "They told me that if I had gone on stage like I wanted to, [my appendix] likely would have ruptured and I could have died. There is just no way around the fact that getting your appendix out hurts. I have a pretty good threshold for pain, but this one hurts."
