Ozzy Osbourne Hopes a British Actor Will Play Him in Biopic

Ozzy Osbourne"I have a love/hate relationship with touring," says Ozzy Osbourne as he fielded questions at a Toronto Press Conference, sitting atop a throne, a regal prince of darkness. "When I'm on the road I want to be at home, and when I'm at home I want to be on the road. I'm ready to get back into it now."

And get back he has with the new album 'Scream' awaiting release on June 22 and touring on the horizon again with Ozzfest, oh and there is that question of a movie biopic said to be in the works, which has had many rumors flying around on who will be playing the dark one; Johnny Depp is brought up the most. Both Ozzy and his wife Sharon took questions on this topic according to our sister blog Spinner.

"Actually, I don't really want to get an American," Osbourne clarified. "Americans don't do a very good English accent." His wife explained further with what may be insight on what to expect: no one we've heard of. "When you see famous people playing other famous people, you still think of them as who they are. I think it should be somebody totally unknown."

Set for release around Thanksgiving will be the 30th anniversary editions of Osborne's first two albums, 1980's 'Blizzard Of Ozz' and 1981's 'Diary of a Madman,' featuring the original drum and bass tracks restored (unlike the 2002 reissues that saw then touring band members drummer Mike Bordin and bassist Robert Trujillo replacing the original tracks).

Mr. Osbourne doesn't want an American to portray him in the movie because Americans can't get the English accent right.....All Johnny Depp would have to do is place twelve marbles in his mouth to immitate Ozzy Osbourne. You can't understand a word the man says. Glorifying a person (self-proclaimed "Prince of Darkness")like Ozzy is debateable. It's just my opinion, but anyone who glorifies evil is just plain bad. And people thought Alice Cooper was bad way back in the 70's. What ever happened to "good"??? Just my opinion. Don't hate me.

Pamela.....I think you hit it right on the head. I can visualize Johnny Depp as Ozzy and totally believable.

Ozzy will be a very complex character to portray, even tougher than Jim Morrison was for Val Kilmer.

I love Ozzy and all the little eccentricities and nuances that come across with his personality. Whoever does get the chance to play him on the screen will have to dedicate himself to BECOMING Ozzy Osbourne, not just while shooting scenes, but for the entire length of the rehearsals and shoot.

Sharon, I love you too, but please don't demand too much from the director and cast and make Ozzy a head case by putting him in the middle. This is HIS shining moment. Let him have it!

I understand where Ozzy's coming from, in that he doesn't want an American actor playing him, and also that Sharon thinks that a famous actor couldn't actually play Ozzy because people would only think of who that famous actor is in real life. However, the job of an actor is to make us believe they are actually the person they are portraying. Johnny Depp does that extremely well. He's such a chameleon. When I see him in a movie, I see him as the actual character and not as Johnny Depp. I think he would be an excellent choice to portray Ozzy.
