'Until the Light Takes Us' Black Metal Documentary Due on DVD Sept. 28
Aites and Ewell are prepping for the Sept. 28 release of their film on DVD and Blu-ray. So in case you missed it, now is your chance to brush up on your church burnin'. In all seriousness, this film is not sensational and is an insightful and in-depth exploration of the Scandinavian scene.
"Audrey and I are very happy to be partnering with Factory 25 for the North American DVD and Blu-ray release of 'Until the Light Takes Us,'" Aites told Noisecreep. "I can't wait for people to check out some of this stuff we've been working so hard to finish. The single DVD has the movie and a couple little extras. The double DVD and Blu-ray have that stuff plus a 40-minute extra feature called 'Deleted Scenes,' which is basically a short film sequel, which has a bunch of stuff we couldn't fit in the film."
Oh, we certainly comprehend the difficulties of the cutting room floor. It's just like editing an interview; you don't want to cut anything, but you only have so much space and time. So thank Satan for DVD extras!
Aites said there are also "mini-features" on black metal icons like Darkthrone, Burzum, Immortal, Enslaved, Ulver, Mayhem and Frost of Satyricon. "There is also a university lecture from Fenriz outlining the history of black metal and of the bands from other countries and scenes that led up the Norwegian scene. I think people are really going to get into that one. It's probably my favorite special feature." So if you fiend for black metal like a Satanist does for virgin blood, you've got to get your hands on this DVD. Aites even said that their editor took notes during the edit of the lecture.
If you pre-order the DVD, you'll get a nice little discount, so don't delay. This DVD is an essential for your collection if you are a metalhead.
