Kataklysm, 'Heaven's Venom' -- New Album
Canadian death metal warriors Kataklysm will release their next album, 'Heaven's Venom,' on Aug. 24 via longtime label Nuclear Blast. Next year, Kataklysm will celebrate 20 years as a band, which is considered an eternity in the death metal realm.
Vocalist Maurizio Iacono commented on his band's secret to remaining a unit for two decades, and guess what -- it's not really some mystical or philosophical fountain of youth. "Staying young at heart, believing in what you do and also not trying to satisfy everyone in the music business. It's impossible," Iacono told Noisecreep.
The band has learned to manage expectations and stay grounded, while having the same hopes and goals. "Having everyone in the band on the same wave line with the same hopes and dreams and mainly staying realistic," Iacono also said. "The booze has helped us numb reality, so that's cool," he finished, with a laugh.
Some tentative song titles from 'Heaven's Venom' include 'Soul Made of Shrapnel,' 'Blind Savior,' 'Hail the Renegade' and 'Push the Venom.'
The vocalist also gave us a little insight into the new album saying, "'Heaven's Venom' packs a power punch that hasn't been heard from Kataklysm in very long time ... maybe ever. I mean, I don't know what happened during the writing process of this album, but something magical has been created." The higher-ups at Nuclear Blast and even producer Tue Madsen agreed with that assessment, with Iacono saying, "They were completely blown away by what they heard, but we feel young, strong and ready for what's to come. Br prepared and help us push the venom this summer!"
Kataklysm will spend perform on the second stage at this summer's Ozzfest, which kicks off in August.
