Sleep Waking Up for Reunion Tour Dates

When High on Fire Frontman Matt Pike swung by the Noisecreep offices earlier this year for a podcast interview he told us that he was getting his influential '90s stoner metal band Sleep back together in the fall for brief U.S. tour. At the time we were stoked, but a little skeptical since the band had only played two shows since breaking up in 1997. But it is indeed official. Following a show on Sept. 3 at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival in Monticello, N.Y., Sleep will perform six more U.S. dates, ending in San Francisco on Sept. 12.

Sleep formed in 1990 by Pike, bassist Al Cisneros (Shrinebuilder, OM, ex-Asbestosdeath) and drummer Chris Hakius (OM, the Sabians). For the tour, Neurosis drummer Jason Roeder will be playing with Sleep. During the shows, Sleep will perform their entire 1993 album 'Holy Mountain,' along with selections from 'Dopesmoker.'
