Triptykon to Release EP in the Middle of Tour

Just over six months after putting out their colossal debut full-length, 'Eparistera Daimones,' minimalistic doom/black metal band Triptykon will release the nearly 30-minute, five-song EP titled 'Shatter: Eparistera Daimones Accompanied.' In addition to three previously unreleased songs recorded during the 'Eparistera' sessions -- 'Shatter,' 'I am the Twilight' and 'Cruxifixus' -- the disc will feature live versions of two songs by frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer's former band Celtic Frost, 'Circle of the Tyrants' and 'Dethroned Emperor.'

"Triptykon is further pursuing the path I began with Hellhammer and Celtic Frost," he said, explaining his decision to include the live versions of songs originally released in 1984 and 1985. "Ever since my earliest days in Hellhammer and Celtic Frost, I have been extremely fortunate to be able to count on the support, fanaticism and immense loyalty of [Celtic Frost fans]."

The Celtic Frost songs were recorded on April 16, 2010, during Triptykon's headline Roadburn Festival performance in Tilburg, Holland . 'Dethroned Emperor' features guest lead vocals by Nocturno Culto of Darkthrone/Sarke.

On Oct. 6 in New York City, Triptykon will launch their 2010 North American tour with 1349 and Yakuza. Dates run through Oct. 30 in Houston.

"The recognition my work has received [in North America] eclipses anything I have ever encountered in my own native country," he said. "Of the 125 concerts performed on the final Celtic Frost tour in 2006 and 2007, a full 71 were played in North America. Some of these performances rank among the most memorable ones in my entire career. It is thus an immense honor for me to now bring my new group Triptykon to North America for the first time, and I am looking forward to continuing to forge this darkest of musical alliances with all of you. We shall all celebrate masses of unleashed heaviness and morbidity."
