Rob Zombie Announces 'The Lords of Salem'

Since Zombie's last directing and scripting outing ('Halloween II'), there has been much talk of his next step in movies. There was speculation, even a teaser poster, for a '70s style bloodbath film called 'Tyrannosaurus Rex' but Zombie also spoke of working on a remake of the classic thriller 'The Blob.' On announcement of 'The Lords of Salem' Zombie remarked in an interview that he wants to get some distance from putting his twist on something done before.
"The remake train is getting pretty tired now and when I made 'Halloween,' everybody complained, either that it was too much like the original or too different," Zombie said. "I like that people either love or hate what I do because it's better than being in the middle, which means forgettable. But when you do an original premise, they take it on face value and after three years of not being able to win on 'Halloween,' I just couldn't go through that again."
The initial plot of 'The Lords of Salem,' as it seems still to be in the writing process, deals with a modern day Salem being put to siege when a 300-year-old coven of witches return. Of course this is not the first time we've heard this title, as 'The Lords of Salem' has its namesake off of Zombie's 2006 album 'Educated Horses.'
