Alice Cooper Nominated for Induction to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The nominations for 2011's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class are out, and after years of fans and fellow artists voicing their displeasure, the grandfather of shock, Alice Copper, has been named. Last year, Noisecreep caught up with Cooper, and he was somewhat baffled as to why he hadn't gotten a nod at the time. "I hear of bands being in the Hall of Fame that I've never heard of. And then there are a lot of bands that were Alice disciples that are in the Hall of Fame that I've sold more records than."

He went on to describe the Cleveland tourist attraction as a private club. "There are about eight or nine guys that decide who's gonna be in the Hall of Fame. I don't know where they got the authority to do that, but it's their club. If you're not invited, you're not invited."

Joined by artist the likes of Bon Jovi and avant-jazz hero Tom Waits, we won't know if Cooper gets his well-deserved induction until the voting has closed and winners are announced in December. As is always the case, many great artist were brought up but not nominated. This batch's biggest snubs were Kiss and Rush, who, like Cooper, have been declined numerous times over years.
