The PRS, which is a royalty collection and payment organization, conducted a poll to attain the list. "These results are particularly interesting as they demonstrate how the power of music can affect society," chairman Ellis Rich said. "Many of these songs have become iconic due to their controversial connotations and have influenced many movements in society over the years."
It seems odd that the Prodigy's 'Smack My Bitch Up' is more subversive than, say, 'Suicide Solution.' But hey, this isn't our list. The pollees probably don't listen to that much metal, because there are at least a handful of extreme black metal blasphemy fests way more shocking and jaw-dropping than anything XTC have written.
