Slayer Frontman 'Really Surprised' About Fifth Grammy Nomination

Slayer have been nominated in the Best Metal Performance category for 'World Painted Blood' from their 2010 album of the same name. They previously won Grammys in the category in 2007 for 'Eyes of the Insane' and 2008 for 'Final Six.' "It's kind of trippy to be nominated again," Araya said. "I'm still surprised. But it's weird in a good way."
Not only is Araya thrilled that Slayer have been nominated for the fifth time, he's pleased that they were chosen for the song 'World Painted Blood.'
"It's a pretty heavy-duty song," he told Noisecreep. "That song brings on all kinds of feelings when you listen to it. It takes you on a ride. It got a really positive response when we played it live before the record even came out. And every time I hear it, I get the same feeling. The hairs on your neck raise up. It's a very energetic song."
Also nominated in the Best Metal Performance category are Iron Maiden for 'El Dorado,' Megadeth for 'Sudden Death,' Korn for 'Let the Guilt Go' and Lamb of God for 'In Your Words.'
As happy as he is to be nominated for a Grammy again, Araya has one big question. "Did we win? I don't feel like I'm in competition or anything, but people ask me how I feel about being nominated and I'm like, 'Great. Did we win?' You know what I mean? I want to know if we won. You don't want to wait. I want to know now."
