Close Your Eyes Keep It Positive
"We're having a lot of fun," said guitarist Brett Callaway, who was catching up with Noisecreep on the tail end of their tour with A Day to Remember and Underoath. "Shows have been awesome."
'We Will Overcome' was quick to catch many listeners, as the band's positive message of hope beyond what we can see in our darkest times seems to be resonating with fans -- and in more ways that just an entertaining fashion. "We get messages and kids come up and talk about it all the time," Callaway admitted.
The band is known to keep close to the merch table in order to hang out with fans. Callaway said that on the recent tour ,they've been told a few times that 'We Will Overcome' helped with deterring thoughts of suicide. "People will tell us that ['We Will Overcome'] gets them through a rough patch in their life."
From Callaway's point of view, he feels some people are getting tired of the hate- and anger-themed hardcore that seems all too common these days. Kids are looking for something positive, "something they can grab onto."
Close Your Eyes are currently taking the month off to work on new material before they head out on The End is Near Tour with I See Stars in January.
