We're not talking about clothes and records, either. Hecox looks for the real unusual stuff. "Like a wire player that I got," the axeman told Noisecreep. "I didn't even know this before I saw it, but before there were tape recorders, people recorded on wire."
He continued, "And there's a super old church service from some small baptist church in the hills of northern Georgia that's recorded on one of the spools that came with the wire player. I think it's from 1942 or something. Things like that really pique my curiosity, so I search 'em out and see what turns up."
Perhaps what turned up at a the yard sales will turn up on Becoming the Archetype's new album, due out next year.
