Slayer Frontman Tom Araya's Wife Says He Is 'Feeling Much Better'

Slayer were forced to cancel their weekend appearance at the Soundwave Festival in Sydney, Australia when bassist/vocalist Tom Araya fell ill and was admitted to a hospital. Araya, who also had to cancel tour plans last winter due to back surgery, is "feeling much better," according to a Facebook post by his wife Sandra. Mrs. Araya did not say exactly what was wrong with her husband, but did deny a rumor that he was suffering from an ear infection. According to her post, it will be a few days before they receive test results.

The health of Slayer band members has become a recurring issue on this tour, as guitarist Jeff Hanneman was forced to sit out the trek while recovering from an infection that was most likely the result of a bug bite. Exodus axe-man Gary Holt was tapped to fill in for Hanneman while he recovers from necrotizing fasciitis, a flesh-eating bacteria which sounds like it was culled from a Slayer lyric sheet.
