It's really happening! Steven Tyler confirmed in a recent Tweet that he and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry have "put their heads together" and are ready to work on a new record.
Tyler says the band will begin recording in the summer. It seems a new Aerosmith record has been in the works for quite some time. Way back in January, Tyler told reporters during an 'American Idol' press conference that he was writing songs and that Perry already "had some licks."
The new studio album would be the band's first since 'Honkin' on Bobo' was released in 2004. Also according to Tyler, Aerosmith will tour South America and Japan at the end of the year. No word yet on any American dates.
Tyler currently appears as a judge on Fox's 'American Idol.'
