Kottonmouth Kings Fight For Freedom on 'Ganja Daze' -- Song Premiere
Suburban Noize
April 20th might at as well be a national holiday for the guys in Kottonmouth Kings. The Southern California stalwarts have been mixing their hard-edged rap with mantras of marijuana legalization for well over a decade now, and the "420" celebration couldn't be a better fit for the group. We're all familiar with the stereotype of the stoner slacker, but Kottonmouth Kings do away with that notion, having already released 11 studio albums since forming in 1994.
Adding to their already rich discography, Kottonmouth Kings will be releasing an EP titled 'Legalize It' this week. Noisecreep has the world premiere of 'Ganja Daze,' one of the tracks from the digital release. We also spoke with Dirtball and Brad X from the group and got their thoughts on the song.
"The song was written to be an anthem for the times we are facing within the marijuana universe. It's a 'Legalize It' type of track that can be used as a call to arms to unite all supporters of the legalization movement," commented Dirtball. "Music is a voice that can be heard and replicated to the masses and 'Ganja Daze' is a great tool to bring us all together and share in the fight for the herb. On top of that, it's a great song to listen to when you're high (laughter). These are the Ganja Daze!"
"'I just think that 'Ganja Daze' is a feel good stoner song. We used a slide guitar, and other organic elements, to create a landscape of audio pleasure," commented Brad X. "The song is really about freedom, struggle and hope. The 'Legalize It' EP is just a teaser of things to come. We'll have a new studio album called 'Sunrise Sessions' out this summer."
