Hollywood hottie Megan Fox may not be back for a third go round with 'Transformers,' but Linkin Park certainly are! The band announced that its new single 'Iridescent' will be featured as the end title song in the third film in the 'Transformers' franchise. This continues the tradition of LP songs being used in the film series. Director Michael Bay seems to be a huge LP fan!
The third film is called 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' and it opens globally on July 1, 2011.
Linkin Park aren't just lending the song to the end credits. Instead, the band is offering a fresh take of the song specifically for the film. The original version appeared on last year's chart-topping 'A Thousand Suns.'
If you want to brush up on Linkin Park's history with the 'Transformers' film franchise, here's the facts: the band's single 'What I've Done' was used in the initial 'Transformers' film, while 'New Divide' was utilized in 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.' Each song proved to be a best-selling single and digital download for the band and both tunes peaked at #1 on the radio charts.
Linkin Park's own Joe Hahn will direct the video for 'Iridescent.' It's another repeat performance, since Hahn also directed the 'New Divide' vid.
"The first two songs were huge hits and I have no doubt that this new song will be equally as successful," Bay said about 'Iridescent.'
'Transformers' film composer, Steve Jablonsky explained why this partnership works, saying, "Michael and I respond to Linkin Park because they have a cinematic sensibility to their music that translates to the big screen."
