Sophie Simmons, the 18-year-old daughter of KISS bassist Gene Simmons, was involved in a serious car accident last Thursday.
Sources close to the family told TMZ that the teenager was sitting in traffic when the car directly behind her crashed into her Dodge Charger, causing Sophie's car to ram into the automobile in front of her.
Simmons was reportedly wearing her seatbelt, but hit her head on the steering wheel as a result of her airbag's failure to inflate. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was examined and eventually released. Simmons was in good spirits and even posted a photo taken at the hospital on her Twitter feed. She is expected to have a full recovery.
Simmons is currently enrolled at Pitzer College, a private school in Claremont, Calif. Her brother, Nick, just graduated from the same school over the weekend. Along with their mother [model Shannon Tweed] and father, both siblings appeared in A&E's 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels.' The show premiered in 2006 and has since enjoyed five hit seasons.
