Ex-Iron Maiden Singer Paul Di'Anno Released From Prison Early

Ex-Iron Maiden singer Paul Di'Anno received his "get out of jail free" card seven months early. The vocalist, 52, made false claims about nerve damage in his back which he said prevented him from working, thus swindling the British government out of $67,500. He pleaded guilty to the charges levied against him.
Back in March, the convicted Di'Anno -- named Paul Andrews on all legal documents -- was sentenced to a term of nine months in jail. However, the singer was released on Tuesday, May 24th after serving less than half of his sentence. Apparently, Di'Anno got off with a slap on the wrist this time.
The singer told told MetalUnderground.com that he is looking forward to putting the whole mess behind him and swapping his prison cell for the stage. "Back home again, and looking forward to 'Running Free Again,' and seeing you all in a few weeks," he said.
