Poison are playing at the Toledo Zoo Amphitheater in Toledo, Ohio tonight, but drummer Rikki Rockett has issued a personal statement voicing his displeasure with the concept of zoos.
His statement is as follows:
"We are playing a venue affiliated with the zoo tonight. For the record, I am not in favor of zoos. It's another example of exploitation of animals for profit. I am not going to make this show about that issue, however. This is about Poison. and the fans. I am simply stating my stance on zoos and I think that it's essential that I do." While the skinsman is not bowing out of the show, he is raising awareness of about the issues he has, which is just as important as if he sat out this particular show. Nice work, Rikki!
Rockett is a visible animal rights supporter, having worked with Last Chance for Animals (LCA), which works to expose puppy mills. Also, every September, he heads to his home state of Pennsylvania to help garner support for puppy mills located in Lancaster.
