Warrant Issue Statement About Former Singer Jani Lane's Death

This morning Warrant posted the following statement regarding the death of their former vocalist Jani Lane yesterday:

"We are deeply saddened to hear the news of Jani's passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Jani was a very important part of our lives for a long time. We will always be incredibly proud of the music we created together.

He was a true talent and will be missed by all of us."

As Noisecreep previously reported, police found Lane's body in a room in a Woodland Hills, California Comfort Inn hotel. According to TMZ, investigators found a half-empty bottle of vodka and prescription medication in the hotel room where Lane died yesterday. The death is being treated as an accidental overdose or a possible death from natural causes. An autopsy is scheduled for later today.

Lane and Warrant parted ways in 2008. It wasn't the first time the singer and the group went their separate ways. Lane first quit the Sunset Strip rockers back in 1993 and returned to the lineup in 1994. A decade later, the frontman left the group again and wouldn't return to Warrant till their short run together in 2008.

Warrant's latest album, 2011's 'Rockaholic,' features former Cry of Love vocalist Robert Mason on vocals. He replaced former Black 'N Blue singer Jamie St. James who sang on the band's 'Born Again' [2006] album.
