Behemoth's Nergal Found Not Guilty of 'Offending Religious Feeling'

We're not exactly sure what "offending religious feeling is," but Behemoth singer/guitarist Adam "Nergal" Darksi has been found innocent of such a charge... again.
When Nergal tore up a Bible at a show in Poland in 2007, calling it a "book of lies," it offended people... and their religious feelings. Nergal went one step further than pop star Sinead O'Connor, who famously tore up a picture of the Pope while performing on 'Saturday Night Live' in 1992, sending religious zealots into a frenzy. Nergal also called the Catholic Church the "most murderous cult on the planet" and was then sued by the All-Polish Committee For Defense Against Sects for his actions.
However, Judge Krzysztof Wieckowski said that such an action is a form of artistic expression the remains consistent with Behemoth's style, sound and ethos. The judge also said that the court had no intention of limiting freedom of expression or the right to criticize religion.
Nergal was actually found innocent of the same charge earlier this summer, but the case came back around again based on a prosecutorial appeal.
Nergal posted his response to the verdict on his website, writing: "I'm so glad to see that intelligence won over religious fanatics in my home country. Tho there's still so much work to be done to make things right...But I'm sure that I'm on the right path to ultimate freedom! The battle is won, but the war ain't over. Heil Satan!"
There he goes again...offending religious feeling and insulting the religious beliefs of others. When it comes to creeds, it's clear we can't all just get along.
