MonstrO Exclusive Tour Diary #1
Bevan Davies
Featuring former members of bands like Torche, Danzig and Bloodsimple, MonstrO is one of the most exciting newer bands that Noisecreep has covered as of late. Their recently released self-titled debut album is a celebration of all-things hard rock, with one tasty guitar riff after the other. MonstrO has been out on tour with Black Tusk and Thou and sent Noisecreep a tour diary entry to share with our readers.
MonstrO singer/guitarist Charlie Suarez:
"It's been a steady 30-40 degrees the past week or so. Half of us in the MonstrO camp originate from Miami (Montoya, Suarez, and Planas, our FOH), so it's a fingertip numbing experience for us three. Remaining are Sanders, Davies, and Starr (our merch-guy/hired helping hand), and they seem to feel at home in these cold temperatures. As the cold days turn into colder nights, "sleet" (as I'm told it's called) falls sporadically and is marveled at collectively by all.
"For the next couple of months, we'll share the stage with Savannah's Black Tusk. Our ship, soaking wet from the Kyuss Lives! / The Sword Tour that swept through the U.S. and select cities in Canada recently, is still at sea as far as we're concerned. It may be a whole lot colder, but once our forty minute set begins, it's the same to us...heavy sweat seeps from pores and shows no regard for dropping temperatures outside venue doors.
"Black Tusk and MonstrO invite you to a show in your hometown this holiday season. Bring a friend and a jacket."
