Giant Squid Singer Says Parenthood Will Influence Their Future Songwriting

"It'd be hard to describe without repeating every cliche that new parents say, because it really is the most wonderful thing and all the other things that seemed so important before definitely pale in comparison," Gregory told Noisecreep. "Jackie and I lucked out in having such a stunningly beautiful and healthy baby, and we're savoring every minute. Almost been two months now! The challenges so far have not come in being parents, as both of us seem to fill that role naturally, but finding time to do everything else, like music, art, work, etc..."
We're sure the duo will find time to balance working and baby rearing with time. Gregory did acknowledge that 'Cenotes' factored ideas about both having a child and being a child into the mix, but that their actual roles as parents will creep into the next album even more. He said, "I know for certain our new roles will play a big part in the next installment.
"I've always written about my parents, especially in our older material from 'Metridium Fields,' so it's pretty unavoidable that we'd write about being parents, though from that side of the table there is inherently a lot less angst, so we'd have to be careful not to get too sappy! Though, I'm sure it will be told from the point of view of a cnidarian or something." We wouldn't expect anything less than marine life lyrics from Giant Squid.
