Five Albums That Changed My Life: Brandon McMaster of The Crimson Armada
Razor & Tie
A couple of years ago, things weren't looking to good for The Crimson Armada. After touring in support of their 2009 debut album 'Guardians,' their 2009 debut album, the Columbus, OH-based group's rhythm section quit. Instead of throwing in the towel, The Crimson Armada hired Brandon McMaster (ex-Sleeping with Sirens) on guitar and Jordan Matz (ex-Like Moths to Flames) into their lineup and released 'Conviction' this past summer. Currently on tour with The Chariot, Vanna, Former Thieves, and Listener, The Crimson Armada's McMaster took some time out to take part in Noisecreep's 'Five Albums That Changed My Life' series.
'Come Now Sleep,' As Cities Burn (2007)
"I love everything this band has put out but this album definitely stands out because of the ambient parts and the message it puts across. This album has had a huge impact on the way I view God and music in general. I feel like this album is a work of art. That's why I put it at the top of my list."
'Enema of the State,' Blink-182 (1999)
"This album just brings me back to high school. It's like an entire record full of nostalgia. I can remember the days of riding around in the back of Wild Bill's truck and raising hell while listening to this CD. Nothing represents my childhood better than this album. It is the true epitome of adolescence."
'Your Favorite Weapon,' Brand New (2001)
"In a time where pop punk reigned supreme, this album definitely set the bar at a completely different level than other bands. The first time I saw this band was at Warped Tour in like '03. I was one of the probably 10 or 15 kids watching their set that day, loving every minute of it. This album started off as a guilty pleasure and ended up being an album that will go down in my book as nothing short of gold."
'Tell All Your Friends,' Taking Back Sunday (2002)
"TBS is one of the few bands that will always be timeless. No matter how old you are when you listen to this album it will always have an unusually appropriate meaning in some way shape or form. TAYF will remain an album significant of all friendships; past, present and future. It's an album that will resonate with a deep meaning for all time."
'Stay What You Are,' Saves the Day (2001)
"Most of my friends in Florida were hardcore kids, obsessed with American Nightmare and Sick of it All. The shows were always a lot of fun, but personally the music was just not my thing. When this album came out it bridged the gap between my friends' musical tastes and my own. Ultimately I feel like this album is responsible for opening up their eyes to different styles of music. I would definitely consider that life changing."
