The Darkness to Tour North America, Release New Album

Next year will mark a new dawn for the The Darkness, who are gearing up for a comeback tour and album. As Billboard reports, the UK glam-metal revivalists will kickoff a 13-date North American run -- their first since 2004 -- on Feb. 1 in Toronto. The trek wraps 20 days later in San Francisco, and a new record is due sometime in the spring.

Best known for the 2003 hit 'I Believe In a Thing Called Love,' an awesomely over-the-top single that left fans and critics alike pondering the English foursome's ratio of irony to sincerity, The Darkness broke up in 2006, not long after releasing their ill-fated second album, 'One Way Ticket to Hell ... and Back.'

The split stemmed from lead singer Justin Hawkins' struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, but now it seems the band is back on track. All four original members regrouped earlier this year for England's Download Festival, and a full UK tour followed in November.
