Corey Taylor Talks Smack, Plays Acoustic Songs (Exclusive Tour Video)
Paul Harries
At recent stops on his solo acoustic tour, Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has sounded off about Rick Rubin and Scott Weiland, calling the former "overrated" and the latter "lazy."
As he explains in the exclusive tour video below, such tirades are part and parcel of a show he's found "beyond amazing," or "copious amounts of kickass.""It was a meeting of the two things I love to do, which is run my f---ing mouth and play acoustic songs," Taylor says. "The show isn't any different from any evening at my house."
But he doesn't just hate on fellow music folks. In the video, Taylor can be seen cracking jokes, taking audience questions and reading from his book, 'Seven Deadly Sins: Settling the Argument Between Born Bad and Damaged Good.'
He also breaks into unexpected covers, such as Biz Markie's 1989 novelty-rap classic 'Just a Friend,' Bon Jovi's butt-rock cowboy anthem 'Dead or Alive' and the oft-requested Lynyrd Skynyrd tune 'Freebird.'
Elsewhere in the clip, Taylor defends President Obama, lambasts NBA players and sticks it to bullies everywhere.
"If you have the power to help other people, and instead you use that power against other people, you're a pice of s---," he says. "Straight up."
Clearly, Taylor likes having the forum to speak his mind, and he's not about to relinquish it anytime soon.
"The fact that I have the nation's ear, the world's ear, I'm not letting it to," he says. "I'm gonna f---ing stick around as long as I can be tolerated."
