Ex-Journey Singer Steve Perry Working on New Music, Done With Touring
"I don't want it to have pressure." Perry recently told Billboard. "I'll worry about it sucking, and then what am I gonna do? I've got all this pressure... that I just don't want on me, so I've allowed myself the ability to sketch and write as I go, and I'll do it at my own pace."
While Perry is keen to record again, he's not really interested in hitting the road for any extended period of time. At 62, Perry has some health issues that would make nightly touring hard.
"I'm no spring chicken. The same arthritis that ate up my left hip that finally got replaced hasn't stopped there... And touring is a lot of work," admits Perry.
Perry recently worked on the reissue of Journey's 'Greatest Hits Vol. 2.' The compilation was released in November via Sony Legacy. His last studio album, 'For the Love of Strange Medicine,' was released in 1994 and went Gold. Journey's latest album, 2011's 'Eclipse,' features vocalist Arnel Pineda.
