Joey 'Fingers' Lombard Dead: Ex-Incantation Bassist Dies Aged 42
Relapse Records
Although Lombard died on Jan. 3, the cause of death has not been revealed as of press time. He was just 42 years old and living in Windber, Pa., where he had worked for aerospace technology company Lockheed Martin. He was also a massive fan of the Chicago Bears of the NFL, as his obituary noted.
Incantation drummer Kyle Severn commented on Lombard's passing:
"Joey was one of the nicest people you could ever meet...Joey had stepped up to the plate and joined John McEntee and myself back in 2000 to create some of Incantation's finest blasphemy to date!!! He stuck with us for five-plus long years of writing and traveling the death metal roads!! He was an amazing musician and bass player. He had contributed more than most could imagine to the death metal scene. He had made many new friends through those years on the road; he was such a likable guy. I don't think he had a mean bone in his body. He will be truly missed."
Services for Lombard where held in Johnstown, Pa. on Sunday (Jan. 8.).
Lombard joined Incantation in 2001 and played on three studio albums before splitting with the death metal stalwarts in 2006. His obituary can be read here.
