Refused Set to Reunite at Coachella

Swedish hardcore icons Refused are set to reunite for this year's Coachella festival in Indio, Calif. The band will be performing on Friday, April 13, along with the Black Keys, M83, Explosions in the Sky, and many others.

Also performing at the famed two-weekend event, which takes place April 13-15, and April 20-22, will be At the Drive-In, so that's more than enough reason to head to the So Cal desert this April.

Refused, whose 1998-issued 'The Shape of Punk to Come' is considered a landmark release in the hardcore world, broke up that same year after releasing three influential studio albums. Last night, the band issued a lengthy statement explaining their reasons for performing at Coachella. The gist? The band never reunited beforehand since there was "too much other s---" to do. However, the members circled the idea, Coachella organizers came calling at the right place and the right time and the band felt it never did justice to 'The Shape of Punk to Come' so no time like the present. Overall, though, the Swedes feel the fans deserve it, above all else.

Since Refused split up, vocalist Dennis Lyxzén has fronted The (International) Noise Conspiracy, Invasionen, and AC4, plus he also plays drums in Instängd.
